The Bilbao filtration system features a split sand tank. The split tank allows for faster and easier sand replacement than top-valve filtration systems. In addition, when replacing the sand media, there is no accidental damage to the filter’s internal piping. Bilbao filter tanks are manufactured by plastic injection molding, which ensures high wall strength of the filtration unit. The tanks are highly resistant to internal pressure as well as to the chemicals used for pool maintenance. In terms of material quality, workmanship, and service life, Bilbao filters rank among the best pool filtration systems on the market. Filtration
Filtration is part of the overall treatment of pool water. This means that the filtration unit alone, without proper chemical water treatment, cannot ensure the required water parameters. Likewise, chemical water treatment alone is not sufficient without filtration.

Filtration Principle
Water is drawn by the pump from the bottom of the pool through the bottom drain (1) and from the pool surface through the skimmers / collectors / (2), via the valve (3) into the filter (5), where it is cleaned. It is then pushed back into the pool through the recirculation nozzles (6). The nozzles are located on the opposite side from where the bottom drain and skimmers are installed. The filter itself contains a sand media that traps insoluble impurities present in the water. After a certain period of filtration, the sand becomes clogged and less permeable to water. It is therefore necessary to backwash the sand. Backwashing or rinsing is performed by directing the water into the filter in the opposite direction to the filtration process.
