Accessory for liners - for welding pools. Renolit Alkorplus PVC-P welding compound Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a specialized product from Renolit, a well-known manufacturer of waterproofing materials.

The use of PVC-P welding compound for pool liner is essential for several reasons:
- Creates a homogeneous, watertight joint: Pool liners are usually made of plasticized PVC (PVC-P), which is flexible and resistant to water and chemicals. Conventional adhesives may not create a sufficiently strong and long-lasting watertight bond. It dissolves the surface of the liner, creating a chemical bond in the material that is practically as strong as the liner itself
- Warranty and durability: Pool liner manufacturers (such as Renolit Alkorplan) require the use of specific welding compounds and procedures for the liner’s watertightness and service life warranty to remain valid.
- Aesthetics and hygiene: Welding compound is often used to seal the edges of welds (which are primarily welded with hot air). This not only strengthens the weld but also smooths it out, improving appearance and preventing dirt buildup, algae growth, and bacteria in the microscopic gaps of the weld. This contributes to the overall hygiene of the pool
- Resistance to pool conditions: Pool liners are exposed to harsh conditions – chlorine, UV radiation, and temperature changes. They are formulated so that the joints can withstand these influences long-term without degradation
Using PVC-P welding compound for sealing welds:
- Thorough surface preparation: Make sure the edges of the liner weld are completely clean and dry. Any dirt can reduce the effectiveness of the joint.
- Applying the welding compound: Using a fine brush or a special applicator, apply the PVC-P welding compound precisely along the entire length of the weld edge. The goal is to seal and fill microscopic gaps at the edge.
- Joining the materials: Join the materials immediately after application and press them firmly together. For sealing a weld, this step is not necessary because the weld has already been joined with hot air.
- Allow to dry: Let the sealed joint dry for at least 30–60 minutes before further handling. THF evaporates quickly, but full strength requires time.
- Time before filling: Wait at least 24 hours before filling the pool with water or exposing the joint to water pressure. This ensures complete curing and strength.
- Drying time: Allow sufficient time for the THF to fully evaporate and the joint to cure before further handling or filling the pool.
