The Bilbao 400 sand filter is suitable for above-ground and in-ground pools up to 45 m³. The Bilbao filtration unit features a split sand tank. The split tank allows for faster and easier sand replacement than filtration systems with a top-mounted valve. In addition, when replacing the sand media, there is no risk of accidental damage to the internal filter piping. Filtration

Filtration is part of the overall treatment of pool water. This means that the filtration unit alone, without proper chemical water treatment, cannot ensure the required water parameters. Likewise, chemical water treatment alone is not sufficient without filtration.

Filtration Principle

Water is drawn by the pump from the bottom of the pool through the bottom drain (1) and from the surface through the skimmers /collectors/ (2), via the valve (3) into the filter (5), where it is cleaned. It is then returned to the pool through the recirculation nozzles (6). The nozzles are located on the opposite side from the bottom drain and skimmers. The filter itself contains a sand media that traps insoluble impurities contained in the water. After a certain period of filtration, the sand becomes clogged and water can no longer pass through it easily. It is therefore necessary to backwash the sand. Backwashing or rinsing is carried out by feeding water into the filter in the opposite direction to the filtration process.
