Sand filters work on the natural principle of water filtration. Water passes through a layer of sand, which traps fine impurities. Over time, the sand naturally becomes clogged and needs to be backwashed, which is what the six-way valve is for. By turning the valve to the sand washing position, we change the direction of water flow and flush the trapped dirt out to waste. This process can be repeated throughout the entire service life of the sand, which is very long compared to other filtration methods.
Features
- The filter tank is made of high-quality polypropylene and is equipped with a top-mounted 6-way valve
- The valve is connected to the tank by piping
- The 6-way valve is fitted with a screw connection with d50 outlet
- The filter tank is filled with silica sand with a grain size of 0.4 - 0.8 mm
- The filtration set includes an Emaux pump. The complete unit is supplied disassembled in one box
Valve Positions and Their Functions
The valve positions are as follows:
- Pool filtration: Water is drawn from the skimmer or bottom drain, passes through the filtration system where it is cleaned, and then returns to the pool through the jets.
- Washing cycle (backwashing): The filter media (sand) is cleaned, while the contaminated water flows to waste.
- Rinsing after the washing cycle: Used to remove fine impurities left after backwashing.
- Draining water from the pool: If the pool is equipped with a bottom drain, it can be completely drained.
- Circulation bypassing the filter tank: Water bypasses the filtration system, suitable for example when priming the pump.
- Closing the entire circulation system: Used to shut off the system during maintenance or cleaning of the pump prefilter.
