Cooper N°1 photometer test tablets for measuring copper levels in pool water.
There may be various reasons for measuring copper levels. In the case of drinking water, copper measurements are carried out to determine the quality of the drinking water. There are no official maximum permissible values for copper in drinking water, but recommended values are between 2 - 3 mg/l. Copper is a trace element and is therefore essential for human life. A daily intake of 0.05 – 0.5 mg/kg of body weight is considered acceptable. However, copper is considered hazardous to organisms, which is “positively” used in swimming pools to combat algae and bacteria in the form of copper-containing algaecides. However, algaecides containing copper sulfate also have their disadvantages, such as possible hair discoloration, staining of swimsuits, and even the corrosive effect and sedimentation of copper acetate. Copper, for example, is released into drinking water from copper pipes. The “Copper/Zinc LR” tablet measures both copper and zinc at the same time, which is how zinc is eliminated from the reaction via the EDTA tablet included in the kit before both individual values are obtained. The “Dechlor” tablet prevents deviations in measurement when the residual chlorine content is high.
